How To Use
What if you could practise English by reading news from Brazil?
Most English-learning content seems contractually obligated to make us discuss London, New York, or some fictional businessman called John.
Brazil in News does something simpler. We turn interesting stories from around Brazil into short English articles so you can practise reading, listening, vocabulary and speaking.
We’re not a news company. The articles are adapted for English learners, so the goal isn’t to give you every detail. The goal is to give you something interesting to practise English with.
Try this with each article
- 01
Listen first
Don’t read yet. See how much you can understand from the audio before your eyes come to the rescue.
- 02
Tell yourself what you understood
Yes, talk to yourself. Pretend you’re explaining the story to someone. Your imaginary audience is extremely patient.
- 03
Read while listening
Now check what you understood, notice pronunciation, and pay attention to the highlighted words.
- 04
Talk about it again
This time, try using a few words or expressions from the article. Stealing useful English is strongly encouraged here.
- 05
Take the quiz
Check your understanding, see how you did, and discover whether your confident summary was actually related to the article.
- 06
Bob’s your uncle
That’s it. You listened, spoke, read, spoke again and checked yourself. Bob’s your uncle. Come back tomorrow and do the whole thing again.
That’s it.
You don’t need to understand every word.
You don’t need perfect English.
Read something interesting. Listen. Steal a few useful phrases. Use them.
And tomorrow, do it again.
